Why we’re building Knowna
At the end of each month
Your month,
day by day.
When a month ends, Knowna tells it once more: every day you shared, in order, each with both Photos, how you felt and what you said. Nothing is picked out, ranked or interpreted. It’s simply your month, the way you lived it.
Just the two of you
A space for two.
Not an audience.
Only the two of you can read it.
Your photos, moods, answers, and notes are end-to-end encrypted on your phones before they’re uploaded. Knowna holds no key that opens them, so not even we can read your moments, and neither could anyone who broke into our servers.
What Knowna does see is what it needs to run: your email address and name, that the two of you are connected, and when you shared. Never what.
No feed, no followers.
No public profile, nothing to perform for. What you share, you share with each other.
No pressure, no scores.
No countdowns, no streaks to keep alive, no button for nudging. Knowna never grades your relationship.
Not for ads or AI.
Your photos, moods, and answers are never used for advertising or sent to AI services. They’re end-to-end encrypted, so we couldn’t even if we wanted to.

Your moments belong to the two of you. You’ll be able to export your data for free and delete your account yourself, right in the app.

Not yet. We’re building Knowna for iPhone and Android and preparing a small closed beta before a public release. There’s no public download or confirmed release date yet.
What if one of us misses a day?
Life happens. In the version we’re building, if one of you has already shared, the other can still add theirs until noon the next day in your shared time zone. If they don’t, that moment becomes an unshared moment: only the person who made it can see it, and it’s never shown to their partner. There’s no blame and nothing piles up: once a day has closed, there’s nothing to make up. Skipping a day never takes away what you’ve already shared.
What if my partner isn’t interested?
Then it’s probably not the right time, and that’s okay. Knowna only works when you both choose it, and it isn’t meant for keeping tabs on anyone. You could start with a question from our journal instead.

We haven’t decided on pricing yet, or on what will be free and what will be paid; we want to learn from real use first. Two things are already clear: if parts of Knowna become paid, one plan will cover both of you, never two separate subscriptions. And if you take part in the beta together, you’ll get a free year once the regular couple offer becomes available.
